EXPLORING AUSTRALIA!

Seeing as I’m a true Aussie native from down under, I can honestly say there really is “no place like home”.

Located between the Indian and Pacific Ocean Australia is most famous for its natural beauty.

Its beautiful coastlines, lush rainforests, colorful reefs, and desert bushland are certainly picturesque and eye-catching. Australia is considered to be the 6th largest country in the world with the majority of its inland being the remote “outback”.

Australia is very well known for its multicultural cities, such as Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth & Sydney.

Melbourne is considered to be the second-largest city next to Sydney and has also been voted the most livable city in the world on numerous occasions.

Australia’s top tourist attractions include the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney Harbor, Uluru, Bondi Beach, Great Ocean Road, Sydney Opera House, and the Whitsunday Islands.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

While temperatures are generally warm all year round, it really depends on where you would like to go.

The best time to visit would be in the summer or spring months, from November to March.

The rainy season is also during this time in areas like Queensland, however, it’s not so bad, so don’t let that worry you. If you plan to explore more of the Outback and National Parks during the summer, the weather can be quite harsh as temperatures can reach over 40 degrees (104 F).

The best time to visit Uluru would be September, October & November when the weather is much more pleasant and cool.

Transport

Australia is the furthermost away from everywhere in the world. For most visitors, the only way to get to Australia is to fly. Most of Australia’s international travelers arrive via Sydney or Melbourne.

Domestic flights also run daily, with Melbourne to Tasmania being the shortest. Australia is quite large, and you can sometimes travel for hours and find no sign of civilization.

That said, Australia does have a great roadway system you can easily find many ways of getting about, whether that be by car, boat, train, or plane.

BUDGET TIPS

Australia is certainly a dream destination for most, however, it does come with a hefty price tag making it one of the most expensive places to visit.

Depending on where you are flying from, flights can certainly vary. My first-ever trip to the United States I’m not joking, cost me a whopping 5,000 Aud. That said, there are definitely cheaper flight deals out there. I recommend visiting in the offseason and keeping an eye out for special deals.

Suggested hotel budget – 160-180 AUD Note: This is a suggested budget, assuming you’re staying in a mid-range hotel. You can always lower this number. Budget hotel prices typically range from 50 – 90 AUD. However, if you stay in fancier accommodation or eat out more often, expect this to be higher.
