Eco-friendly Travel Products For the Conscious Traveler
Sustainable travel is definitely on the rise. Being a more conscious traveler and purchasing more eco-friendly travel products will not only make your travel experience more convenient and easier but will also help leave a healthy footprint and be a positive step in the right direction to saving the planet.
I often opt for travel-green items when I can, and I try to be more conscious of what I pack. Try swapping out your normal travel habits/products and make the switch to becoming a more sustainable traveler.
Check out below a few of my favorite eco-friendly travel products that will not only keep the environment happy but help reduce unwanted waste while you travel!
Reusable Water Bottle With Filter
Cut back on single plastic bottles and opt for a reusable water bottle with a filter. Great for destinations that don’t recommend drinking the water.
Shampoo & Conditioner Bars
Known for being 100% vegetarian & handmade. Lush shampoo and conditioner bars are amazing for travel. They are made with all-natural ingredients and are synthetic safe, and come package free.
Bamboo Toothbrush
Make the switch to organic bamboo toothbrushes with plant-based bristles. It lasts just as long and pairs very well with organic-friendly toothpaste.
Reusable Produce Bags
Save your pennies and the earth by bringing your own reusable bags to the grocery store. They’re easy to pack and keep your produce fresh for longer.
Travel Keep Cup
For all the coffee lovers out there. The travel Keep Cup comes in all shapes and sizes. Has tempered glass for durability and is great for travelers on the go. No more disposable cups!
Wooden Hairbrush
A wooden hairbrush will do wonders for your hair. The bamboo bristles reduce hair breakage, frizziness and will evenly coat your natural hair oil for healthy, shiny-looking hair. This is one item I’ve had for a long time now, and I can honestly say it has seriously changed the life of my hair.
Thinx Underwear
Your number one period-proof underwear. Being a more sustainable solution to single-use disposable products. They are essentially washable/reusable underwear that absorbs your period.
Reusable Utensils
Do your part and carry with you a ‘pack & go’ cutlery set. Over 40 billion plastic utensils are thrown away every year. Help make a change and reduce plastic waste.
Bees Wax Reusable Food Wrap
Available in all different sizes and patterns. Reusable Bees Wax Food Wrap is a great alternative to cling wrap. You can wrap all sorts of fruit and veggies, creating zero waste in the process.
Coconut Oil
The benefits of using coconut oil are endless. It’s great for cooking, as a body moisturizer, a hair mask, removing makeup, etc. the list goes on. Handy tip! I recommend using a small amount as I find a little goes a long way.
The benefits of being environmentally friendly
Let’s be real a lot of travel products aren’t exactly great for the environment. They’re covered in plastic and, most of the time, full of harsh chemicals. By helping reduce your impact on the environment you can preserve more natural resources and promote a greener living lifestyle and conserve what’s important to the earth.
Other Eco-Friendly ideas when traveling
1. Shop local
2. Walk when you can or ride a bike
3. Recycle as you go
4. Hang up your towels for reuse in hotels
5. Take more showers and fewer baths, as baths take up more water
6. Wash your clothes in the shower to help reduce dry cleaning
7. Turn off all lights and switches when you leave your hotel room
Give back! Help out as a volunteer or work with a not-for-profit organization. It doesn’t take a lot to make a change.
